Guided Group Hiking Trips

"You showed us plants and animals we never would have seen (or appreciated so much) on our own!"

- the Vitullis, New York

Moderate Full Day Group Hikes

Our full day guided group hiking trips happen on moderate trails and usually last seven to eight hours.

For other kinds of hikes (half days, easier or more difficult full days), you can hire a private guide.

The Hiking Capital of Canada

Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and the surrounding area is often called “the Hiking Capital of Canada.”  There are many wonderful trails here!

You could visit the alpine, ponder how the old-growth forest renews itself one tree at a time, or be surprised by a landscape utterly transformed by fire.  Our Top 9 1/2 Trails page provides a small sampling of the options.

Each season has something special to offer: waterfalls in spring, wildflowers in early to mid-summer, and golden larch trees in fall.

What you need to know

The first party to book sets the destination for the day.  You can see trips already set up and days that are still open using our online availability calendar.

Season: June 1 - September 30.
Moderate full day hikes only.
9 am to about 4:30 pm.
8 am start time for hikes at Moraine Lake.
All participants must be fit, and able to hike uphill and downhill at a moderate pace.
Test yourself: can you walk rapidly up and down a flight of stairs 10 times - comfortably, without stopping and without pain?

 Maximum: 8 people per trip.
Minimum of 2 to run, but single travellers may choose to pay for two spaces to get a trip started.  If others join (likely in July/Aug), then the single person will only pay for one space.
Children younger than 6 are not accepted on group hikes.

Your trip will start in Lake Louise, or at the trailhead, depending on where you are staying.
Lake Louise is a 45 minute drive from Banff town, one hour from Canmore and two hours from the western edge of Calgary.
We do not provide transportation.  In most cases you will need a vehicle to get to the trailhead.  In some cases there may be trails directly adjacent to your hotel.
